TSONGA VS. DJOKOVIC - 2008 AUSTRALIAN OPEN FINALS

Scores / Match Statistics What an amazing match, despite the loss of Tsonga. Some say he was a little less in form than in the previous games. Maybe so. I also think that he was finally facing someone of his caliber, who was also playing the best tennis of his life. Djokovic did not lose one set, not even against Federer, to get to the finals, where he lost his first set of the tournament against Tsonga. Experience also played a decisive role: Djokovic was finalist last year, Tsonga was ranked in the 200's back then. The bad: Tsonga lost The good: Tsonga "will be back". Tsonga appeared happy despite losing the final, and he should be. He played some of he best tennis I have ever seen against Nadal, and proved he was more than a flashing star by playing a very good final. Now the future. Who knows what will happen next, but I believe Tsonga will be very hard to beat in the next two grand slam tournaments. The next one is the French Open: Tsonga will be at home, playing on clay court (the surface he learned to play on). Then Wimbledon, where serve and volley are the key factors. Tsonga excels in both. Of course, Djokovic will be there too. This Australian Open was a turning point in men's tennis. After several years of mediocre tennis, we now have two real champions to enjoy watching for many years to come.
